Upper Amphibolite Facies 600 C
 | Ca 600. Hydrous phases include amphiboles and micas. |
680 C
 | Ca 680. Muscovite disappears |
700 - 750 C
 | Ca 700. All the amphiboles break down and are replaced by pyroxenes. The only hydrous phase left is biotite. |
 | Ca 750. Foreshadowing what will happen during eclogite formation, the compatibility domain of anorthite begins to shrink. In the previous figure anorthite was compatible with everything. Here, anorthite + hypersthene react to make diopside + almandine. |
